“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.” – Dr. Seuss
I thought an interesting way to write this might an interview. So here is myself interviewing, myself (without trying to sound pompous)
Shaun: Hello Shaun, my you are handsome, can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Shaun: Hey there! And thank you! I’m Shaun, a travel aficionado with an emerging need to write & discuss what makes the world we all share unique. I grew up in the small town of Kingston, Ontario, Canada but now live in Ottawa, our beautiful country’s capital. Growing up I was a music-a-holic. I played in a band all through high school until I had to grow up and go to college. All of my education is in the technical field which is what I’m currently employed in.
Shaun: Thanks Shaun, mind sharing where have you been?
Shaun: Mind???? That’s why I’m here man! I’m going to exclude my home country and the US from this list. I’ve been to Nicaragua, Holland, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Dominican Republic, the UK, Greece, Turkey, Panama, Russia, Denmark, Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia and Japan. Not bad for a start right?
Shaun: Not bad at all, what are you hoping to do with this website?
Shaun: Great question and I have a number of objectives. I want to make connections with people in different places. I want to share my impressions of places I’ve been with fellow travelers. I want to provide a window to people so that they might become interested in the world around them. I am also very concerned about a travel budget. If I hope to get a major in travel I’d want to follow it up with a minor in finance. So prepare for a glut of stories and tips to make your mouth water about your next location.
Shaun: Where did you get the travel bug Shaun?
Shaun: Good question Shaun. There seems to be a travel-gene in my family. My uncle was able to travel almost his entire life by being a phenomenal mechanic. These skills took him everywhere including expeditions in Antarctica. My other uncle, after college graduation, was sent backpacking Europe, and later became a tour guide all over the world. Most recently he began teaching English in Japan. It was his stories that really painted the picture in my mind and ignited my passion for travel.
Shaun: What else are you in to?
Shaun: Well, I’m in to gaming. Contrary from “getting out there to see the world” I can be a bit of a gaming junkie. However it relates to travel in one this is a social circle for me. I have friends online that I’ve never met in real life, but having come to be a part of each others lives. We even do a podcast together.
I am also in to motorcycles, aviation, hockey (like most Canadians), snowboarding, guitar, Heavy metal music! reading, finance, sociology, creative writing, and exercising.
